Su director creativo busca mostrar al espía desde "un punto de vista políticamente correcto"

(El País informa, Gregorio Belinchón). La apertura tendrá lugar el 12 de julio, y sí, es todo lo impresionante que cabría esperar de un museo dedicado a la saga cinematográfica más longeva, y una de las más espectaculares, de la historia. Sin embargo, no será fiel a su objeto de estudio. 007 Elements, la institución dedicada a la figura de James Bond, tendrá todo tipo de cachivaches y recuerdos del agente secreto creado por Ian Fleming, pero su director creativo, Neal Callow, ya ha advertido en The Times que quieren mostrar el legado de los filmes desde un punto de vista moderno y políticamente correcto. Es decir, adiós al sexismo y al racismo de Bond, algo que, advierte The Guardian, es como un museo de historia natural sin fósiles.

 007 Elements recuerda a la guarida de algunos de los grandes villanos de la serie, como Blofeld. Situado en Sölden, en los Alpes austriacos, cerca de una de las estaciones de esquí más famosas del Tirol, el edificio se sitúa en la cumbre de una montaña, a 3.048 metros sobre el nivel del mar, cerca de donde se filmó Spectre. Callow ha incentivado esa similitud, para que asemeje a parte de un decorado antes que a un museo al uso; y probablemente para eso le contrataron: ha sido el director artístico de los filmes protagonizados por Daniel Craig. Tanto el edificio como el restaurante adyacente, Ice Q, son obra del arquitecto Johann Obermoser, y las obras han durado solo un año. Según los periodistas británicos que accedieron al museo la semana pasada, la visita, que cuesta 54 euros (incluye el telesilla desde el aparcamiento en la falda de la montaña), no ocupa más de una hora de recorrido.

 En el vestíbulo un vídeo del director Sam Mendes recibe a los visitantes y en las salas se analizan y muestran gadgets, personajes y hasta las melodías que acompañan a 007. Pero nada de sus chicas. Y ahí es donde se ha borrado parte de las características del personaje. Según Callow, los tiempos han cambiado, y además nuestro recorrido da un panorama general histórico, no entra en tanto detalle. Así, no hay rastro del famoso diálogo de Octopussy, película que se desarrolla en la India, cuando Bond -aquí con el rostro de Roger Moore-empieza a guardarse sus ganancias del casino en un bolsillo, y a un hindú le da algunos fajos mientras dice: Keep you in curry for a few weeks, won't it?, un racista juego de palabras en el que altera la perífrasis verbal con el curry, la mezcla de especies picantes habituales en la cocina asiática. O se olvidan de un Sean Connery maquillado como japonés en Solo se vive dos veces (You Only Live Twice, 1967). O de Agente 007 contra Dr. No (Dr. No, 1962), la primera película, cuando Bond le dice a un contacto de la CIA, un pescador negro en Jamaica, que le busque los zapatos mientras él se va con Ursula Andress. Tampoco hay ni una referencia a su modo de comportarse con las mujeres, a las que a veces ha conquistado con unos modales más que violentos. Queda un Bond que para bien o para mal no es Bond.

007 Elements remembers the lair of some of the great villains of the series, like Blofeld. Callow has encouraged that similarity, so that it resembles part of a set before a museum to use; and probably for that they hired him: he has been the artistic director of the films starring Daniel Craig. Both the building and the adjacent restaurant, Ice Q, are the work of the architect Johann Obermoser, and the works have lasted only one year. According to British journalists who visited the museum last week, the visit, which costs 54 euros (includes the chairlift from the parking lot at the foot of the mountain), does not take more than an hour.
